Violin Concerto No. 3 in G Major
(1st movement)
— W.A. Mozart

Wallis Currie-Wood

Soloist

Wallis Currie-Wood, age 17, is a junior at Dripping Springs High School. She has been lucky to have violin in her life for the past 12 years, and currently studies with the wonderfully enthusiastic Aurelien Petillot.

Wallis began playing violin at the age of five with The University of Texas String Project, after being inspired by her grandmother, who has played violin since childhood. Since her String Project days, Wallis joined the Austin Chamber Music Academy, and found she loves chamber music. She also participated in UIL Solo and Ensemble in violin and voice, meriting high marks from the judges in both categories. Wallis has played with the Starlight Symphony for six years.

Aside from violin, Wallis also participates in organizations such as Girl Scouts, Thespian Society, National Honor Society, and French Club. She is especially privileged to be an intern at DA! Theatre Collective in Austin. Her other interests include acting, singing, photography, dancing, and reading. Though she hopes to focus on theater in college, she will never give up music as a part of her life.

From family and friends to teachers and mentors, Wallis would like to thank everyone in her life for providing help and encouragement.
